Autographed 4 bar musical quotation on a 3.75" x 6.25" card from the 2nd Act of his opera Gitta, 2 years before it was complete, April 13, 1935.


Anatol Provaznik (1887-1950) was a composer, organist and Czech radio pioneer.  The son of an church soloist, he attended Prague Conservatory in 1907.  His first position out of school was as the titular organist of the St. Vitus Cathedral, moving to Berlin in 1911 to study the new business of radio broadcasting.  When he returned to Prague he was one of the people on the team that founded Czech radio.  From 1930 until his death, he was the Director of Music of Czech radio.

As a composer, Provaznik wrote some 240 published works including 2 operas, (Gitta premiered in 1937), orchestral works, concertos, chamber music, pianos works, songs and choruses.
