Wonderful Chalkware Dark Skinned 3 D Lady With 2 Hooks at Bottom. Approximate dimensions - 6" from top to bottom including hooks, 5" Wide at widest point, 1" from back to front. The lady looks to me more Asian but could be African American - she has perfectly coifed hair with the right side looking like a coiled bun, her eyebrows defined with lovely dark eyes & rose colored lips. her red dress has a gold band at neckline with the bodice having 2 straight braided vertical stripes with large 'buttons' at each end (Please refer to Photos - part of the description). She has a touch of color loss & somewhere along the way someone has touched up flea bites on her dress with red paint. She could be a key-holder from the size of the hooks Or possibly a necklace holder if used in a bedroom? The left hook has a bit of movement but is still solid in the chalk. She is definitely handcrafted as seen in the uneven back of the bottom of the piece - the one on the right could be a small flea bite (Please check Photos 8, 9 &10) - the original price is still on the back of the piece - 89 cents but has been marked thru. Chalkware is an American term for Figurines either made of molded plaster of Paris or sculpted Gypsum & Painted - was all the rage from the 1940's - 1960's. Considering the fact that she is possibly 80 years old - I would consider her to be in Excellent Vintage Condition. Thanks for Viewing!
