Which is best?

This is generally a personal preference but some points to note:

Ported Features:

  • Generally larger in size than sealed
  • Usually more Boomy than sealed enclosures
  • Box can be tuned to a certain LOW frequency
  • More efficient than sealed so requires less power
  • Port airflow can contribute to a louder deeper sound
  • Subwoofers can last for a longer period of time
  • Usually a deeper bass response than a sealed enclosure
