Karl Bohm Johann Strauss II Emperor Waltz SACD TOWER RECORDS JAPAN

Product introduction

Planned 40 years after Böhm died.

A collection of Viennese waltz by Bame, whose first-class interpretation of J. Strauss overwhelms the listener.

Excellent recording! New and latest reproduction from the analog master tape of the home country. World's first SA-CD!

Karl Böhm (1894-1981) recorded the Vienna Philharmonic in a session between the ages of 77 and 78, and the latest reproduction of the eight original albums of Johann Strauss on the world's first SA-CD. This album can be said to be a performance unique to Böhm, who has pride and pride as an Austrian. In his later years he was awarded titles such as "Music Director of the Republic of Austria" and "Honorary Conductor of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (founded specifically for Böhm to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the founding of 1967)", and the relationship is very high. Through many performances with the Vienna Philharmonic, which was good, and recording to DG, it became popular especially in Japan. Not only a composer related to Vienna, but also an authority on German music in general, he has an overwhelming ability along with Karajan at that time, and the rehearsal scenery that remains today and the rigor as it is transmitted from the orchestra members at that time Robust music making was supported. On the other hand, there is an opinion that the performance related to Johann Strauss, which is the opposite of the song, is not suitable for Böhm, so this DG sound source may not have been common until now. However, for example, listening to the lively expression of "The Blue Danube" performed in an encore at a concert dismisses that idea. It is easy to think that Böhm's performance has a low center of gravity and emphasizes strict vertical lines, but in reality it can be understood that it is a proud performance that respects the artistry of his work to the maximum extent. Of course, the performance of the best orchestra called the Vienna Philharmonic is also big, and the dignity of Böhm who loved Vienna is strongly felt in this recording. Behind the last "Perpetuum mobile" is Bame's voice.

For this reprint, as in this conventional plan, we are newly digitizing from the original analog master tape in Germany, but the sound quality of this Strauss was excellent. From the close sound image up to the 1960s, DG aims to create an appropriate sound image of an instrument that focuses more on the entire orchestra in the 70s, and the indirect sound and the collectiveness as a mass are significantly improved. The appropriate sound image and the texture of each instrument were wonderful, and it was a sound source suitable for improving sound quality. In the recording, the expression that makes you feel the dignity of Böhm and the unusual tone of the Vienna Philharmonic are recorded with the highest quality.

In terms of sound quality, as in the past, due to the higher sound quality, it has become possible to distinguish between the precise movement and density of the low strings, the degree of harmony of each instrument, the overtones, and the feeling of air. Now I can understand the musicality that I intended. High-definition digitization and mastering by Emile Berliner Studios is becoming more accurate, with a stunning balance that isn't as high-frequency as you've heard on previous CDs. Going back to the starting point, I aimed to reproduce this wonderful recording so that I could recognize it again.

In this reprint, we go back to the original analog master tape in our home country and digitize high-quality sound. Not limited to this time, we used the top flat master, so we have a very good presence. The texture and localization are surprisingly clear and clear, and the benefits of DSD are added to reproduce the unprecedented excellent sound quality. In producing this board, after physically maintaining and repairing the original analog master tape of the home country, digitization (PCM) with high quality (192/24) was performed, and Emile Berliner of Berlin. In the studio, a dedicated label engineer spent a lot of time mastering for this series in a meticulous process. In the SA-CD layer, you can enjoy high-definition master sound. The CD layer has also undergone the latest digitization and mastering, which sets it apart from the sound quality of conventional discs.
