You are purchasing a 1920's Cowan's Chocolate & Confectionary card from the V2 Animal Series of 24 cards.

These cards were issued by the Cowan Confectionary Company from Toronto in each cake, Mell-O Milk & Royal Milk chocolate (5 cent size) in the early 1920's in Canada only, making them a rare and early collectible card.  The exact year(s) of issue in the 1920's is unknown.  

As can be seen on the back of this card, these hard to find colourful cards could ONLY be redeemed by mailing the complete set of 24 animal cards back to the company for a premium large picture.  

Once redeemed the company would destroy the mailed in cards making those that survived truly scarce.  Much more so than those cards of other sets with coupons on the bottom that could be mailed in allowing you to keep the card.
