Ford S-Max Galaxy Handbrake Lever Release Button Parking Brake Cable Fix Repair

Is your hand brake lever stuck and not releasing? Does the release button press in but it is not releasing the lever resulting in the handbrake being jammed upright?

A very common fault on the S-max is for the handbrake release button cable to fail so that the handbrake lever cannot be released. This usually means the release button can be pushed but the lever does not release.

This is due to the handbrake cable snapping within the mechanism.    A thin wire rope cable runs from the handbrake button to a ratchet on the handbrake mechanism.   This cable is too thin for the job and moves around a tight bend. This causes the cable to wear and snap.

The Ford solution is to replace the whole mechanism, a very expensive fix and with the same design flaws.

There are many other aftermarket cables that copy the OEM part. The OEM cable is threaded into place then an end stop end is crimped in place with a special tool. The OEM and OEM copy cables are very difficult to fit as they have the stop end already crimped in place so the cable cannot be fed through the tight gaps. We have never successfully installed one.

Install our improved design stainless steel cable and fix the problem for good.

The improved design stainless steel cable can be installed without the need to replace the whole handbrake lever mechanism at great expense.

This cable is straight forward to install unlike the OEM and OEM copy cables.  Please check out the video instructions on Youtube.

An improved design with thicker wire rope cable and CNC machined billet aluminium end stop.  This kit will restore the full function of your hand brake cable.   Part appearance may vary.
