B. Burn the yarns with a match or a lighter.

C. Natural silk does not burn by itself but shrinks to a ball of carbonized ash which breaks easily. It smells the same as burning animal or human hair.

D. Polyester yarn burns by itself with orange flame and black smoke. It smells the same as burning plastic.

E. If it burns by itself like paper with white ash, it is either cotton or viscose.
