1956 Perth Proof Penny PCGS PR62RD

This coin has blazing original red colour right across both sides.

The copper proof coins struck by the Perth Mint across the 1950s and 1960s have been the subject of much study by numismatists - the examples that remain available to collectors have been keenly studied to better understand the way they were struck and handled.

One of the consequences of the Perth Mint's unique production process is a surface quality that simply isn't seen on other coins. In the hand, this coin has fantastic eye appeal - the surfaces retain their original blazing-red colour and also exhibit the varying striations and polish marks the Perth Mint staff took time to impart to the dies.

The images we've taken really don't do the coin justice at all, it looks far better in the hand than it does online.

One minor carbon spot can be seen on the right hand side of the reverse, as well as some very light dusting on the obverse.

Those minor marks aside, this is a truly attractive example of one of the rarest coins issued by the Perth Mint.
