A rare and important near miniature Commonwealth Era King James Holy Bible,  printed during Cromwell's rule after King Charles I was executed (hence Field's imprint lacking any reference to Royalty). This Bible, commonly called the Pearl Bible (eluding to its small type one of the type, one of the first of its kind), is known for its printing errata, in this copy which can be seen in second to the last picture, from Matthew, where the word of God omitted by Field (and written in by a concerned owner in antiquity). Bound in a later c1832 leather binding. Leather is well kept; the spine with gilt deco and rule and title label as shown slight loss with backing visible at the crown. Hinges intact yet joints stressed. The innards of this little compendium are the best part; presented in great shape with minimal wear. "The New Testament of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" has separate dated letterpress title page; the main title, sadly, is lacking. Pages with some minor toning, a few small wear points, but overall (minus title) remains complete with all pages present. Front Ep signed by a Charlotte Lamphere.
