Many camcorders and digital cameras have a 3.5mm 4-pole AV Jack out socket to connect to a TV or video. 

This cable plugs into the camcorder/camera (or other device) AV output socket and gives you 3 RCA phono outputs to connect to your Yellow/Red/White connectors on your TV or recorder

Please note the ground is located at the bottom pin on this adapter
