ONE KEEPER FANCY RIM LOCK - EXACT REPRODUCTION - 3 7/8"   (33148)
(replaces SKU 007019)

Hard to find keeper for a fancy rim lock manufactured by Penn Hardware between approximately 1897 and 1915.  Penn made many versions of this design on rim lock with different logos.  We always had trouble finding this style so we had some cast that would perfectly match the body of the rim locks that needed them.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     There are several variations of the height of these, this one measures 3 7/8" and is a perfect fit for one of the original model produced by Penn with different logos on the front.  For example, the first production pieces carried a C20 logo, apparently designed to be a celebration of the advent of the 20th Century.  The next model seems to have simply carried the PENN logo.  Later the company made these for the Simmons Hardware Company in St. Louis, Mo, see the image of a Simmons Hardware advertisement attached.  Also, we have included an image of the Penn catalog from 1907.                                                                                                                                                                                                      One version of he lock carries the logo for 'R.L. Co', perhaps meaning Reading Lock Co.?  Finally, at some point Penn seems to have made 'regional' models, perhaps to sell to local distributors.  We have had versions with the letter 'N', versions with the letter 'S', also 'W', 'E' and even with one that reads 'SE'.                                                                                                                                  We are constantly looking for other versions to add to our own collection, so if you have any you would like to sell, let us know.  We are also always looking for catalog illustrations or other literature or information on this particular style of rim lock that Penn manufactured.                                                                                                                                                                  SEE OUR 'KEEPER CORRAL' for our FULL INVENTORY of RIM LOCK KEEPERS!
