Bayer Initiator Systemic Plant Insecticide & Fertiliser
Item Description

Initiator is a combination of the systemic insecticide, imidacloprid, with a controlled release fertiliser in a convenient, easy-to-handle tablet.

So as well as providing long-lasting protection against various damaging insects in eucalypt seedlings, Initiator also encourages more reliable and stronger growth. It is designed to be placed in the planting hole during transplanting of seedlings so that the growing plant can take up the fertiliser and insecticide.

750g pack contains 300 tablets.

Active ingredient information: Imidaclprid

Chemical Group: Chloronicotinyl

Formulation type: Tablet

 Key features:

  • Protects eucalypt seedlings against the damage caused by sucking, defoliating, stem damaging and root feeding pests
  • Provides significant growth enhancement of the seedling - leading to faster and more reliable establishment of the tree
  • Highly targeted application of insecticide. Protection is delivered directly into the tree with no risk of drift and no direct impact on beneficial or non-target insects.
  • Fertiliser is delivered directly into the area of optimal uptake by the plant.
  • No risk of surface run-off from fertiliser granules applied to the surface.
  • Provides long-term protection - trials show insect protection is conferred for up to two years (depending on growth rates and conditions)
  • Reduced pest monitoring requirements provided by long-term protection
  • No mixing required
  • High level of safety in use
  • Synergistic’ result from imidacloprid and fertiliser combination.

 Application rate and delivery

Apply one tablet beneath or adjacent to the root zone of the seedlings

  • Gum tree scale
  • Heteronyx spring beetle

Areas of  use Registered for use in all States and with all eucalypt species

  • For broadacre application, in plantation forestry, in areas where insect damage is known to be a significant limitation on tree establishment and growth.
  • Buffer zones within plantations or other areas that cannot be sprayed.
  • In areas of high public visibility, where insect damage is expected but aerial application is not desired.
  • In potted-eucalypt production nurseries (e.g. advanced trees) to provide extended protection against insect damage through the production cycle, resulting in trees which are healthier and stronger.
  • In landscape, park or cityscape plantings when a high level of confidence in seedling establishment and survival is required.

Joseph and Anthony Gallenti – brothers and directors of The Farmers Mailbox.

Like many of you, we've been farming all our lives. We were raised in Kinglake West, Victoria, where we grew carrots on the family property and attended Yea High before both completing a certificate 3 in Horticulture. In 1995, our family decided to stop growing carrots and get into the business of growing instant lawn instead.

Fast forward 20 years and we're now proud owners of The Farmers Mailbox. We've recently taken over from Sandra and Jay Canning, who know we'll look after their customers well.

Our aim is to make this Australia's most convenient place to buy farm equipment online. There's also the retail store to look forward to – located in Whittlesea, the shop is due to open in May 2015.

We're always adding to our product line and putting great items on sale, so make sure you check the site regularly for updates and special deals.

Above all, we care about our customers and love talking to all our fellow farmers out there. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions or queries you have.
