Found in Southern New Jersey. It was illegal for colonists to import silver English coins, they instead imported German and French coins. This exact coin was found in southern New Jersey and widely circulated in the 13 colonies. It is strange to find a coin of this denomination, as it would be traded at $1 or twice the value in Great Britain. A rather worn coin, but rare find.
