CT Sounds was founded in early 2013 by Coleman Thedinger at the age of 21. The vision was to create a company that could offer high-quality car audio products at an affordable price while offering industry leading customer service. Coleman’s love for car audio was not just about hearing sound, but experiencing it. CT Sounds was created to be more than a manufacturer of car audio products, it’s a way of expressing yourself in conjunction with your favorite pastime.
In 2019, Coleman died unexpectedly at the age of 27, and his father, Bart, took over ownership of the company. Many people would have sold the company but Bart believed in his son’s dream “a way of expressing yourself with your favorite pastime”. If he gave up the business he would be giving up the biggest connection he had with his son - music. After Coleman’s passing the business struggled greatly and almost filed for bankruptcy in late 2020.
In November 2020, Coleman’s younger brother Calvin Thedinger bought into the business at age 23. Calvin, who graduated with an engineering degree from Texas A&M University, was working his first job out of college making $80,000/year as an income statement analyst for Baker Hughes. Calvin gave this up to make $0/year and work day and night to carry out his brother’s vision for CT Sounds. Thanks to our loyal customers, Calvin was able to turn the company around quickly and the company posted record breaking revenue in his first year as CEO.
