The Forks were used on Vintage Schwinn Bikes without Hand Brakes like: American, Jaguar, Tiger, Panther, Corvette, Speedster, Co-Ed, Starlet, Hollywood, Debutante, Hornet, Fair Lady, Fleet, Typhoon, Miss Teen, Fiesta, Skipper, etc...
The Fork is for Vintage 26" Schwinn Middleweight Bikes with 26" x 1 3/4" S-7 Rims and Wheels. The Fork is used, straight, 1" threaded fork tube, is processed Cleaned, Threads have been cleaned, obstructions removed, inside honed and is ready to use. The Fork tube is 6 5/8" long with approximately 1" of thread and fit a Common 5 3/8" Vintage Schwinn Headtube (measurement without cups). A Few Forks have a Crack in the Groove and the Forks Marked with a R had a Broke fender screw and were drilled out and re-tapped, due to the difficulty of the process the re-tap is slightly askew but will get the job done just fine. Your selection will tell and show the item and individual condition with close up of the threads. The 1955-1965 (55-65 22.2) Fork has a 22.2mm or 7/8" inner diameter and would use stems and top nuts of that diameter. The 1966-1980 (66-80 21.1) Fork has a 21.1mm 13/16" inner diameter and would use stems and top nuts of that diameter. The Fork tube wall got thicker in 1966 giving you a stronger fork but you had to use a smaller stem. If the Patina is right you can used fork in the opposite years, if your OK with changing stem and top nut. Middleweight forks can be used on a ballooner in a pinch but will NOT accommodate vintage Schwinn Ballooner fenders.
The Chrome Fork Crown Cap / Dressing and VSF Crown Race is an Add on. Add Items to your cart and check out through your cart for combined Shipping Discounts. Most of the cost is in the combined shipping and buying this alone is not the wisest purchase. Fork Crown is used and Pretty Clean, There is also a 2nd Grade that is a tad rougher. The VSF ( Vintage Schwinn Flat ) Crown Race is a New Remake of the Original and only Works with Schwinn Flat OG Bearings. Newer Headsets require a different Crown Race. We sell a New OG headsets for this fork in our ebay store. There is and option for loose or installed, Installed will be installed for you, I would chose this option if the patina is good for you and you want a fork ready to go. If your going to paint or want to polish the Crown cap I would option for loose.
