You are bidding on a DVD+R containing 27 Military catalogs and compilations, mostly related to military communications electronics. These are PDF files containing high-quality scans of original military manuals. Special care has been taken to assure the half-tone images are preserved. These manuals have been processed by OCR to produce fully-searchable copies, plus an overall index of all 27 manuals. There are about 10,000 pages of manual in total.

The Department of the Army started a series of communications equipment catalogs under the label of Technical Manual TM 11-487. It started in 1944, but was later expanded with TM 11-487A, B, and more. This manual has three different era versions of TM 11-487A, plus several other issues (B, C, E, F, I, M, and H). The last one, TM 11-487H, concerns electronic test equipment and is by far the largest of the group. There is also an Air Force version of the same kind of catalog. Each of these has one or two pages on each piece of equipment. There are no schematics, but there are often pictures of the equipment. It generally also gives the numbers of any or all Technical Manuals associated with that equipment. Sometimes the original manufacturer and model number is identified. Note that some of these manuals are also on my 3 DVD-ROM collection entitled "60 Radio Manuals".

Also included are two publication lists. These give the designations (like TM 11-487) of each manual that was available at the time the list was published.

Manuals are as follows:

TM 11-487 "Electrical Communication Systems Equipment" 1944, 540p. This is a catalog of all the Army Signal Corps equipments used in 1944.

TM 11-487A "Directory of Signal Corps Equipment - Radio Communication Equipment" 1950, 266p. This is a catalog of all the Army Signal Corps radio communications equipment used in 1950. Yes, it has the SX-28, the BC-779, the R-390, and many, many more - about 2 pages per piece of equipment. It includes transmitters, like the BC-610. There are no schematics - this is like the Sears catalog for Signal Corps commanding officers. It does list the technical manual (TM 11-number) for each piece of equipment!

MIL-HDBK-161 TM 11-487A "Military Handbook Electronic Communication Equipment" Volume I, 1959, 1048p. These two volumes form a catalog of all the Army Signal Corps equipments used in 1959. It includes the R-390A, the SP-600, and much, much more.

MIL-HDBK-161 TM 11-487A "Military Handbook Electronic Communication Equipment" Volume II, 1959, 1049p

TM 11-487B "Directory of Signal Corps Equipments - Wire Communication Equipment" March 1951, 235p. Teletypewriters, switchboards, cable, repeaters, central office sets.

TM 11-487C "Directory of Signal Corps Equipment - Ground Radar and Recognition Equipment" 1951, 30p. BIG radar sets. Most are in trailers - one is tower-mounted.

TM 11-487E "Directory of U.S. Army Signal Equipment, Power Equipment" 1959, 259p. Dynamotors, Generators, Vibrator Packs, Rectified Power Supplies, Motor-Generator Units, Rotary Converters

TM 11-487F "Directory of U.S. Army Signal Equipment, Photographic Equipment" 1951, 195p. Cameras, Developing equipment, Enlargers, Projectors, Chemicals, Lighting Rigs

TM 11-487I "Directory of Signal Corps Equipments - Sound and Light and Miscellaneous Equipment" 1951, 130p. PA Systems, Phonographs, Tape and Wire Recorders, Microphones, Speakers, Headphones. Includes Stock Item 9A1648 "... transportable, collapsable housing for pigeons" - see my auction for a reprint of TM 11-410 "The Homing Pigeon".

MIL-HDBK-173, TM 11-487M "Military Standardization Handbook - Audio Equipment" 24 June 1966, 230p. Earphones, loudspeakers, microphones and more.

T.O. 33A1-1-13, TM 11-487H-1, NAVSHIPS 93003 "Electronic Test Equipment" September 1957, 1514p. Sections include Frequency Measuring Equipment, Wave Form Measuring Equipment, Signal Generating Equipment, Field Intensity Measuring Equipment, Impedance and Standing Wave Ratio Measuring Equipment, Amplifying Equipment, Time-Based Measuring and Counting Equipment, Nuclear Energy Test and Measuring Equipment, Power Measuring Equipment.

T.O. 33A1-1-13C, TM 11-487H-1 "Supplement Electronic Test Equipment" 15 November 1958, 2160. This appears to be a reissue of the above with a lot more stuff and a few more sections. It is not as good quality printing as the other books in this series.

MIL-HDBK-300 (USAF) untitled. This manual is missing the cover page. It appears to be the Air Force version of the above volumes. It is electronic test equipment. The ordering of the equipment is incomprehensible - you have to use the OCR text search to find anything. On the other hand, there is quite a bit of equipment here that is not described anywhere else - radar test equipment, closed-circuit television systems, equipment that can be rolled out onto the tarmac, and more.

MIL-HDBK-25, TM 11-411 "Military Standardization Handbook - Glossary of Photographic Terms". No equipment here - just terminology used in military photography. I notice they include "Schlieren" photography, although I don't think the definition is complete.

FM 21-6 "List and Index of Department of the Army Publications" 1 January 1949, 300p. This appears to be a reprint. It lists by number, publication date, and title every single manual printed by the Army at that time. It includes field manuals, technical manuals, technical bulletins, work orders, pamphlets, tables of organization and equipment. Probably the most interesting part is that it tells you what all the series numbers mean. For instance, field manuals that are numbered "FM 6-XXX" are related to field artillary. "FM 72-XXX" are about jungle warfare. Similarly, technical manuals numbered "TM 9-XXX" relate to ordnance. TM 19-XXX are about Military Police.

PAM 310-4 Department of the Army Pamphlet "Military Publications - Index of Technical Manuals, Technical Bulletins, Supply Manuals (types 7, 8, and 9) Supply Bulletins, and Lubrication Orders" November 1974, 600p. This appears to be like the previous one, but it doesn't show field manuals - just starting with technical manuals. It does give many of the new names for the manuals, like MIL-HDBK-XXX or T.O. XXX.

Alphabetical Index of Technical Publications TO 0-2-1, 1955, 640p - This is a list of EVERY manual in print in 1955. Has full title and document number.

Army-Navy Aeronautic Military Standards - 1955, 108p -  List of all "MS" publications in 1955.

Disc includes the 6 volumes of "Army-Navy Index of Aeronautical Equipment" manuals, as follows:

"Army-Navy Index of Aeronautical Equipment - Volume 1 - Superchargers Pumps and Accessories" - 165p

"Army-Navy Index of Aeronautical Equipment - Volume 2 - Landing Gear" TO 03-25-10, 176p, 1944.

"Army-Navy Index of Aeronautical Equipment - Volume 3 - Oxygen Equipment Miscellaneous Equipment" 258p

"Army-Navy Index of Aeronautical Equipment - Volume 4 - Electrical Equipment" 348p

"Army-Navy Index of Aeronautical Equipment - Volume 5 - Armament" 429p. This one is cool - you can get whole upper turrets here.

"Army-Navy Index of Aeronautical Equipment - Volume 6 - Instruments" 387p.
