New Grannas A. Olson’s Swedish hand painted Traditional wood Dala Horse 43 or 13.38 inches ,  Condition is "New” In stock in USA.
The story of the Dala Horse , after the block has been cut out using a bandsaw the entire process is done by hand . A great deal of the work is done at home by about 50 craftsmen in their cottage carving the horse to perfection with great skill , using a sharp knife as their only tool. Most of them are elderly and have both a long experience and a true feeling for tradition and design .
When the horse is carved it is dipped in the basic color. Red is most common but today there are lots of different colors. The traditional patterns are painted entirely by hand and if you have visited Grannas in Nusnas you will never forget the skill of the artist with their  brushes. When  the horse have been decorated they are dipping in a protective transparent lacquer.
