"KING LOUIS XVIII SIGNED KNIGHT'S CERTIFICATE OF THE ORDER & MILITARY ORDER OF SAINT-LOUIS WITH DRY AND SUPERB RED WAX SEAL" - awarded to Henri Chabbal, former Adjutant General on November 27, 1823 

"Louis, by the grace of God, King of France and Navarre, Sovereign Chief, Grand Master and Founder of the Royal and Military Order of Saint-Louis to all those who see these letter, Salut;

Being very happy to give Seigneur Henri Chabbal, former Adjutant General, marks of distinction, in consideration of the services he has rendered us, we believed that we could not do so in a manner which was more honorable to him than by admitting him to the number of the Knights of the Royal and Military Order of Saint-Louis, instituted by the Edict of the month of April 1693, being well informed of the above services, and that he professes the Catholic religion, apostolic and Roman. For these reasons, we have made, constituted, ordered and established, make, constitute, order and establish by these presents, signed by our hand, the Sir Chabbal Chevalier of the said Order of Saint-Louis to enjoy by him the said title of Knight, to the honors and prerogatives attached thereto, with the right to rank among the other Knights of the said Order, from the twentieth day of the month of August of the year of grace one thousand eight hundred and twenty three or, by virtue of the powers given by us, he was nominated and received as a Knight of the said Order by M. le B. de Calrieres Colonel Chevalier and to wear on his stomach a cross of gold enameled, suspended in a small color of sea, and on which there will be the image of Saint-Louis, on condition of observing the Statutes of the said Order, without contravening them directly or indirectly, and of going to our Court whenever we order it for our service, and for the good and usefulness of the said Order. If we give in Mandate to all Grand Cross, Commanders Knights of the said royal and military Order of Saint-Louis, to have Sir Chabbal Chevalier of the said Order recognized, from all those and as he will learn. In witness of which, we have signed with our hand these presents, which we have made countersign Minister Secretary of State to the department of the war.
