What is the purpose of the flap over the tummy section that closes on and hides the Velcro in the middle?  When flipped, it prevents the side from sticking to the center Velcro. It is also used for when using the slit in the back with a harness. 

The slit in the back is there so you can use the swaddle with bouncers and swings. We do not recommend using a swaddle with an infant car seat.
