A/W 2013 Nasir Mazhar Runway Miniskirt

Rare and never-worn
, Nasir Mazhar skirt from one of his earliest London Fashion Week (LFW) collections.

This is a runway piece from the Autumn/Winter 2013 womenswear show at the Tate Modern where Mazhar created a club room complete with neon lights and a performance by Shystie. The show, similar to predecessors like Patrick Kelly, was reminiscent of a time when fashion blurred the boundaries between club and catwalk.

Selling my entire archive of Y2K designer club-kid fashion. Never worn because this miniskirt was always a hair too small for me.

Designer medium runs small. Fits like a small-medium. Mid to high rise — waistband easy to alter for the perfect fit. Entire skirt is actually be easily alterable because of it's A-line shape. The lining (in the same blue sateen fabric) can easily be let in or out.

Would love for this to go to an it girl who loves 2000's fashion. (Peggy Gou walked Mazhar's AW 2014-15 show before she became a superstar DJ. Mazhar made facemasks in that same era way before we started wearing them in 2020.)

Designer Bio

Nasir Mazhar is a fashion designer living and working in London. Originally trained as a hairstylist at Vidal Sassoon, Mazhar moved away from hairdressing after undertaking an evening class in hat-making. After working on Kylie Minogue’s Showgirls tour, Mazhar worked as a theatrical hatter for two years with Mark Wheeler. He has since worked on productions with Rambert Dance Company, The Royal Opera House, The Globe Theatre, National Theatre and Barbican amongst others.

Mazhar’s work has featured on the cover of Roisin Murphy’s 2007 Overpowered album and was worn by Madonna on the cover of Dazed & Confused magazine in April 2008. Mazhar has collaborated with Nicola Formichetti for AnOther Man, and stylist Thom Murphy and photographer Benjamin Alexander Huseby for i-D magazine. He has also created hats for London designers Gareth Pugh and Henry Holland.

In 2008 Mazhar was awarded New Gen sponsorship from Topshop and the British Fashion Council for the first time and has gone on to show at London Collections: Men and London Fashion Week. He was featured in Hywel Davies' book 100 New Fashion Designers, released by Laurence King Publishers, in September 2008.

He created hats for the clubbing scene section from the London 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, and launched his first full clothing for men and women in his 2013 collection. In 2014, Mazhar partnered with grime artist Skepta on Mazhar's S/S 15 show at London Collections: Men.

In 2019, he opened a shop selling limited-edition fashion pieces, Fantastic Toiles, in Forest Gate, London. He also created costumes for the Newcastle dance company Ballet Lorent.
