For sale is a vintage book, LST 325: Workhorse of the Waves & Evansville's War Machine. This 128-page hardback is "dedicated to all those who served in World War II, and helped the war effort by providing an invaluable service on the home front." It pays tribute to Landing Ship Tank 325, which was built by a "nation of laborers working around the clock to make sure there were plenty of tanks, boats, bullets and bombs to win a war built on two fronts." At the Evansville, Indiana, shipyard, 167 LSTs were constructed. The Chrysler plant churned out tanks and trucks, and Republic Aviation kept the skies stocked with P-47 fighter planes. LST 325 made 30 trips across the English Channel between Britain and France during and after the famed invasion of Normandy. Before that, it played a role in the massive effort by General George S. Patton's Seventh Army to invade Sicily. This book is profusely illustrated with dozens of images, some never before seen by the general public. The book is a first edition, copyright 2005. It is in like-new condition and would make a wonderful addition to any military-themed library or collection of Evansville memorabilia.
