Yukinobu Chai was a master luthier in Japan.  He began his career in the early 1960s.

He was the main supplier for the Niibori School of Guitar Ensemble and made a wide range of guitars models including alto, soprano, bass and baritone models; so you could say he had plenty of practice to perfect his art :)

Yukinobu Chai, like Matsuoka and Yairi, was very popular in Japan but unknown in the west.  Only recently his guitars are being discovered by a larger audience and are in now greater demand.

I have enhanced this guitar by tuning the braces.  I tuned that top to 104 Hz which is a G#.

The sound now is punchy and loud, with deep yet clean basses and sparkling trebles. The mids are clear and well balanced.  It also has great sustain.
