Handmade Bamboo Bicycles
The Ajusco is our Mountain Bike 29R Frame.
This frame is for assembling a 29" mountain bike. It can be used to go to ride offroad, train, go around the city, or just to hang out. It weighs 2.5 - 3.5 kg (5.5 - 7.7 lb) approximately, variations are due to the difference in bamboo weights.
Joints are hand madre from unidirectional 50K Carbon Fiber. Carbon Fiber is an extremely strong, resistant and light material. As well as bamboo, CF is not subject to fatigue, so, in time, there will not be any acumulable damage on your bike. Using unidirectional fibers lets us design how the structure throughout the bike works. The species of bamboo that we use for the bikes is commonly known as "natural steel" of "solid bamboo". It can handle up to 1 ton per sq.cm.
Bamboo bikes provide the smoothest rides available, this is because bamboo frames absorb more that 4 times the vibrations than carbon fiber frames. This feature makes our frames ideal for long rides (ex.g. 100km per day), let the frame handle the vibration and not you.

*** Materials ***
Bamboo is one of the strongest natural materials in nature, it cans withstand up to 1ton/cm2 of compression force, this is twice the tolerance of steel.
Bamboo is also lighter making it ideal for bicycle construction. Neither bamboo or carbon fiber are subject to fatigue. Your bike can endure daily use and falls without losing its strength.
Naturally bamboo generates 30% more oxygen than trees, this helps break down Co2 generated by cars. It takes up to 15 years for a regular pine tree to grow, it takes bamboo as little as 3 years to reach the same level, making it a very renewable source.

Bamboocycles has certified its Racer frame according to United States industry standard by Microbac (testing company), running extensive tests consisting of 150 thousand stress cycles.
