Jacques Boisvert was born in 1951 in Montreal. Following a training in technical drawing, he painted his first canvas from nature in 1975. Jacques Boisvert is a painter who has a reputation as a rebel, as a good protector of his freedom, he installs his easel where inspiration calls him, whether on a sidewalk or in a field. His landscape paintings are mainly painted in acrylic & colored according to a technique of contrasts through the complementary tones in such a way that they suggest perspective. The result is that it gives an underlying iconographic impression, leaving room for a very large part of simplicity that one would be inclined to attribute to a seemingly naïve method. The colors and sleek style of Jacques Boisvert's paintings are inspired by European painters from the 19th century to the time of Impressionism. According to the painter "art is emotion, it is a way of expressing what one has in the depths of oneself". As a result, he comes out of his paintings a positive energy, a great serenity and a great strength at the same time. Jacques Boisvert likes to transcribe the Quebec landscapes he loves, the surroundings of Chambly in particular. Houses, churches, Lake Chambly that flows near the gallery where he exhibits, boats, and impressive trees that seem to spring out of their canvas are his favorite themes.
