MotoRad® Fail SafeTM Series Thermostat The temperature is 180°F. Fail-Safe Thermostats provide superior protection over any other thermostat on the market thanks to premium, patented technology. Only Fail-Safe is designed to lock in the open position when an overheating cooling system component fails. This allows for maximum coolant flow, preventing costly engine damage. Fail-Safe is intended to help protect your engine when it overheats. When there is overheating, Fail-Safe automatically locks in the open position to allow maximum coolant flow. When standard thermostats fail, they lock in the closed position and prevent coolant flow to the engine, potentially causing serious engine damage. Fail-Safe is protected against overheating damage by a patented safeguard.
