Parts are designed to work in conjunction with factory tailgate support cables for your specific make and model. Installation is simple and requires no drilling. When you're carrying a lot of heavy items in both arms, even opening your truck's tailgate can be difficult. Juggling things around in your arms as you lower a heavy steel tailgate is awkward after pulling a release handle that may or may not work properly due to loose or misaligned linkages. If a package or the tailgate panel itself has ever slipped out of your grasp and landed hard, the Dee Zee Tailgate Assist kit will come in handy. It has one gas strut and related hardware that bolts easily into place and allows your tailgate to open slowly, safely, and gracefully. The setup is simple. Simply unhook the driver's side tailgate support cable with standard tools, then replace the original mounting bolts with the new ones supplied in the gas strut kit. Once the support cable is reinstalled, your tailgate will latch tightly in place with no clearance issues or difficulty.
