Description:

Viola tricolor is a common European wild flower, growing as an annual or short-lived perennial. The species is also known as wild pansy, Johnny Jump up.
Is an annual plant, herbaceous, 10-15 cm tall. We find it more natural than cultivated, with very different forms and with yellow, white and violet streaks.
Its flowers have 5 petals with a velvety texture, a variety of bright colors. Usually the two upper flowers are menexed in color and the three lower ones are yellow.
Pansy has been known since antiquity (in one sense the ancient Greeks and Romans knew the wild pansy by the name "phlox"). It has been used in medicine since the 16th century in cases of skin diseases.
The herb in English is called heartsease (peace of mind) and has been used in herbal medicine in England for hundreds of years. In folk medicine it was used in asthma, skin diseases and eczema (especially in children) and was believed to control children's nocturnal urination.
Also the herb acts as a diuretic, expectorant and laxative. Its diuretic action makes it useful in the treatment of frequent and painful urination.

Making tea:
It is prepared as an infusion, but the juice of the fresh plant or the tincture can also be used. For the infusion, pour a glass of boiling water into a tablespoon of dry herb and leave it covered for 30 to 60 minutes.
During this time we shake it from time to time. Strain and drink half a glass 3 times daily before meals.
Combines perfectly with Gallium, Clover and Nettle for eczema. Together with Tusilago (Farfarae folia) has good results in whooping cough.

Precautions:
Overdose of the plant can cause allergic itching, indigestion, vomiting and diarrhea.

Remember: Herbs are not a substitute for medicine. For their best and safe use it is better to consult your doctor.
