Description:

Nutmeg also known in Indonesia as pala is one of the two spices - the other is masis - which come from various species of trees of the genus Myristica.

The seed of the tree, about oval in shape, 20 to 30 mm long (0.8 to 1.2 inches), 15 to 18 mm wide (0.6 to 0.7 inches) and weighing between 5 and 10 g (0.2 and 0.4 ounces (oz)) dried, while the mass is the dried "lacy" reddish cover or the epiperm of the seed.

The spice with its special aromatic character and slightly sweet taste is suitable for both savory and sweet dishes.
