Description:

Guarana (Paullinia cupana) is a plant that thrives in the Amazon rainforest. Ιτ is a climbing plant that can grow up to 10 meters if it finds trees to support it.

The plant is famous for its fruit, which for many resembles the human eye. The colour of the fruit ranges from brown to red and it contains black seeds that are partly covered by white arils. Today, 70% of guarana production is used to make soft drinks and energy drinks, and the remaining 30% is processed into powder. Since guarana fruits contain caffeine it is usually a key ingredient in coffee substitutes. It also has a satisfactory protein content, about 8-12%. Starch reaches 60%.

Guarana increases heart rate and contractility, increases blood pressure, prevents platelet aggregation, stimulates gastric acid secretion, induces urination, relaxes bronchial smooth muscles and stimulates the release of catecholamines.

It has additional antioxidant properties and thus protects cells from free radicals. Guarana also helps to improve secondary memory and reduce the feeling of fatigue. It helps reduce appetite and promotes weight and fat loss.

It helps soothe migraines, fights diarrhea and constipation.

Its rejuvenating effect is due to its caffeine content which is released much more slowly than in a cup of coffee.
