A very nice example of a
World War Two
British Army
Pocket Field Signalling Mirror
in its 'Jungle Green' Cotton Cover
dated 1945
Used in the jungles of Burma by the
British 14th Army
these small mirrors were a vital piece of equipment
for signalling to fellow units under fire
from the Japanese Forces.
Even more importantly, they were also used
during over-flying airborne drops by the RAF
to signal up to the pilots of
Transport Command
in their
Douglas C-47s & Curtiss C-46s
the exact locations as to where the vital re-supply drops should be placed.
Measuring approx 4" x 3" and maker-marked
WTL 1945
it is in an excellent, issued & used condition.
