Beautiful piece, believe it is a butter, and is marked made in Bavaria.  There is a slight defect in the china at the signature.  The piece stands 4 1/4 inches to top of container, add about an inch for cover and open loop top.  Piece has three handles and floral spays on both sides of the jar and lid.
