This lot consists of an official 1972 Postmasters of America Commemorative Issue N0. 28 commemorating Wildlife Conservation with a Sterling Silver "The Cardinal" Medal and First Day Cover in a heavy plastic protective page. The concept and design are well-conceived and highly professional. This is one of a multi-year issue of medallic silver and USPS philatelic first day covers.  The cover and medal weigh 42 grams, and we believe the medal weighs 25 grams (rendering about 8 tenths of an ounce).  The medal was minted at the Franklin Mint.
