COIL TYPE:
Red Standard Non Ballast Cars upto 1968 have a non Ballast as Standard 

Blue Ballast Coil Cars 1968 onwards have a Ballast ignition as Standard 

LEAD TYPE 

All Available lead colours are the same specification 

PLUG TYPE
3 Prong carbon core
Single Iridium Core  

Do I have a Standard or Ballast Ignition?

For a Simple and quite efective test do as follows 
1. Turn on ignition 
2 Test Voltage at positive side of coil and earth and make a note.

3 Remove wires from negative side of coil.

4 connect a wire from negative side of coil to earth. 

5 Again test voltage between Positive side of coil and earth and make a note

If in the second test the result is about the same as first,

then you will have a standard ignition 

If the second test the Voltage is more than 20% less,

 then you have a resistor in the circuit and have a ballast ignition
