FOR HINCKLEY MADE TRIUMPHS

These pistons can be adapted to suit CLASSIC triples T150/T160 & Rocket 3

 They Will ADAPT for triples use AFTER machining of piston Skirts.

These pistons were used by the VELOCETTE Motor Cycle Company

to make their BIG BORE triple Kits back in the 80s & 90s.

(I supplied them with the pistons !!!!)

@ original bore diameter 71mm = 2.7953" inch

METRIC These pistons are 71 mm + .0254mm = 71.0254mm

IMPERIAL These pistons are  2.7953"inch + .001" = 2.7963" inch

Compression Ratio is 9.0:1

Supplied to MERIDEN Triumph at Coventry with number 70-9488/001"

These pistons were supplied to the TRIUMPH MERIDEN factory by Hepolite 

to tighten up new "loose" bores on the 650cc production line.

They are 0.001"inch (0.0254mm) oversize,

one thousandth of one inch, NOT to be confused with

XX NOT XX  ten thou oversize XX NOT XX

A $ bill, € euro note, or £ bank note is approx 3 thou thick.

These pistons will suit slightly worn bores @ standard size, 

or honed to size brand new bores

These genuine pistons are at Standard size plus ONE thou.

Original TRIUMPH Standard rings fit these pistons.

Do NOT use 010" oversize rings, they are too BIG

 Pistons are supplied bare, WITHOUT rings, pins and circlips

These pistons sometimes have a dubious size stamp on the TOP.

The after manufacture stamping of .001" is often scruffy &  haphazard.

BUT EVERY Piston is Carefully Checked with a vernier gauge

AND on my Hepolite Piston Ring gauge before dispatch.

You will only receive STD 70-9488 @ + .001" (One thou oversize)

Pistons are matched, if possible, closely for the same batch

and production numbers, and the weight of each piston is normally

indicated with each individual piston.
