Trixie VHS Emily Watson, Dermot Mulroney, Nick Nolte, Nathan Lane; Alan Rudolph
Condition is "Acceptable".

Trixie is a movie that almost works on many levels, but never completely succeeds on any of them. Emily Watson is the title character, a befuddled novice sleuth, with a penchant for butchering the English language. She says things like 'You smoke like a fish' or 'What do ya think, I've got an ace up my hole?' This gets progressively less clever and more annoying as the movie goes along until you can see them coming a mile away.

The supporting cast does an admirable job with the rather lackluster script. Dermot Mulroney, Nick Nolte, Nathan Lane and especially Lesley Ann Warren, in a humorous turn as a two-bit, over-the-hill singer cum murder victim, all try very hard to make this movie work. Unfortunately, the efforts or talents of the director, Alan Rudolph, do not match those of the performers. Every time I started to become interested in one of the supporting characters, the focus would unexpectedly switch to someone else. The irritating Trixie being the only one in virtually every scene.
