This is a 14-coin, unopened silver proof set that is mint fresh. Each coin was struck by a process that left the fields highly mirrored and gave the devices a cameo effect. Each coin has lots of luster. This is also the introductory year of the Presidential Dollar series. Evidently, the Treasury Department was experimenting with package designs that were best suited for marketing this many coins and easing the distribution process. The coins are divided into two separate boxes and those boxes are joined together by a sleeve. The set contains five 90% silver state quarters (Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah); a 90% silver Kennedy half dollar and a 90% silver Roosevelt dime. The four Presidential dollars (Washington, J. Adams, Jefferson, Madison), Sacagawea dollar, Jefferson nickel and Lincoln cent are of the standard circulation composition.
