Main distribution areas: distributed in eastern Africa (Tanzania, Senegal, Mozambique)
Appearance: Distorted and hollow, inherently ten sandal and nine empty. Difficult to process, very low yield, mostly straight, fine and fine texture; slightly oily; sapwood narrow, white to pale yellow; heartwood is dark purple brown, accompanied by black stripes.
Physical properties: heavy material, high hardness; high strength, high seismic performance, high corrosion resistance; very stable, not easy to warp and deform. Air dry density of 1. 25-1.33g / cubic centimeter, is the hardest wood today. Heartwood is dark purple brown to nearly black with black stripes. Its cut surface is smooth, brown eyes are scarce, the texture is tight, and the oil is heavy. The wood grain is clear and varied, and it is called "the wood of the emperor".
