THE PHANTOM RICKSHAW AND OTHER MYSTERIES RUDYARD KIPLING WESLEY NEFF DJ ART

Featured is a c 1930 copy of Rudyard Kipling's The Phantom Rickshaw and Other Mysteries published by the Int'l Fiction Library.

Includes, in addition to The Phantom Rickshaw, My Own True Ghost Story; The Strange Ride of Morrowbie Jukes; The Man Who Would Be King; and "The Finest Story in the World".

Kipling described the collection of stories thus: "This is not exactly a book of down-right ghost stories, as the cover makes belief. It is rather a collection of facts that never quite explained themselves."

Overall book in fair-good condition. The DJ however, is Rare (while the edition in and of itself is scarce-rare), and while it does have some wear issues, the fact it exists at all is remarkable. ALERT: Since the taking of the picture, the "P" on the DJ in Kipling has become detached and is missing. It is one fragile DJ and it will benefit from an archival cover.

Book itself has blue boards with green print/decor. Bumping at spine tips. Age-yellowed interior. There is a 1931 gift inscription on front fixed endpaper.

The art for the dust jacket was drawn by noted and prolific pulp artist Wesley Neff, a Canadian native. At the time of this piece he was living in Detroit, MI and was, as a freelancer, doing much of the illustrative work for the pulp magazines at the time, including Adventure, Crime Busters, and Western Story. He even did cover art for the Saturday Evening Post. This art is important in that it is not a specifically documented piece. The DJ is signed. If you are into pulp artists of the 20th Century, this is a must have.

Kipling could tell a whopping good story and he was a skeptic ... so here he combined those two dynamics and this was the result. Most folks don't even know it exists, although the title was also included in a set of his collected works.

If you like Kipling or collect pulp fiction art ... this is a must-have.
Selling on eBay as early as 1997.  "The Mermaid" is also still a bonded auctioneer and real estate broker who spent the past "many" decades' specializing in books, ephemera, estates, and real estate.  Just shy of two million books sold to date.  Books and paper aside, if it is "Stuff", she has sold it!  She has now returned to eBay.  Health issues have brought us back.  We are even selling our own collections!  And ... we are picky.  If we wouldn't add it to our own collections, we won't sell it.  Hope you find something that you want, need, and, most important of all, will enjoy!  We look forward to transacting with you and making new eBay friends and customers.  Thanking you for your patronage in advance ... !

As to our "standard operating procedures":  Our normal shipping & handling time is three (3) days.  We ship weekdays with the exception of US federal holidays.  We will ship with either free shipping or calculated shipping ... it depends on the given scenario.  Often, calculated shipping will include insurance - again, depending on the item.  Payment is expected at time of purchase or close of auction, whichever is applicable.  This also applies to "best offer accepted" transactions.  Non-paying purchasers or bidders will be blocked from future transactions.  The same goes for winning bidders seeking to have sales cancelled.  That said, prior to the end of any auctions, bids can be cancelled through the HELP section of eBay.  If respective bidders are found to be cancelling bids in an excessive manner, however, they will be blocked from future transactions.  Shill bidding is not tolerated and will be reported.

"The Mermaid" is happy to ship globally.** (See below.)  For such transactions, "calculated" shipping fees apply and    Insurance will be required if not already included in applicable postal fee.
**Unfortunately, there are a few destinations to which we cannot and will not ship.  That circumstance involves a fluid dynamic the specifics of which may not be clear until point of sale.  If such is the case, we will allow the transaction to be cancelled at our discretion and without any negative reporting made to eBay.

WE ARE GLAD TO BE BACK!
