CLAUDE DEBUSSY NOCTURNES FOR ORCHESTRA  COMPLETE 111-PAGE MUSICAL SCORE VINTAGE 1970 PRINTING - VERY GOOD CONDITION.

Featured is the complete score for Nocturnes,  Debussy's beloved impressionist orchestral composition in three movements:  Nuages, Fetes, and Sirenes.

The work was written between 1892-1899 and the music was based on poems contained in Poèmes Anciens et Romanesques written by symbolist French poet, Henri de Regnier.  The poems were written in 1890.

The title for the musical composition, Nocturnes, was borrowed from a series of paintings by James Whistler who was living in Paris at the same time Debussy was working on his composition.  He considered and described the music he was writing as "an experiment in the different combinations that can be achieved with one colour—what a study in grey would be in painting".  One of the paintings by Whistler in the series "Nocturnes" was the famous one of his mother entitled:  Arrangement in Grey and Black No. 1.  I think we've all seen it!

The 111- page score in its red paper wraps is in very good condition.  It measures approximately 6.25" x 9".  Tight binding, clean and unmarked interior (with exception of owner's name written title page).  Also a owner stamp on cover.  There is a small .75" split at bottom of spine to both front and back covers.  Overall, in very good condition.

Selling on eBay as early as 1997.  "The Mermaid" is also still a bonded auctioneer and real estate broker who spent the past "many" decades' specializing in books, ephemera, estates, and real estate.  Just shy of two million books sold to date.  Books and paper aside, if it is "Stuff", she has sold it!  She has now returned to eBay.  Health issues have brought us back.  We are even selling our own collections!  And ... we are picky.  If we wouldn't add it to our own collections, we won't sell it.  Hope you find something that you want, need, and, most important of all, will enjoy!  We look forward to transacting with you and making new eBay friends and customers.  Thanking you for your patronage in advance ... !
