L-Tyrosine is a dietary amino acid that is converted into catecholamines including dopamine (DA) and norepinephrine (NE). Additionally, L-tyrosine is utilized in the manufacture of thyroid hormones. L-Tyrosine is frequently taken as a dietary supplement to increase catecholamine levels decreased by stress or difficult situations. As a free-form amino acid supplement, it is typically taken alone or in conjunction with weight loss or preworkout supplements.
What are L-tyrosine’s main benefits?

How does L-tyrosine work?
L-Tyrosine is needed to produce dopamine (DA) and norepinephrine (NE), two catecholamines that can be decreased in times of stress or cognitive strain. One to two hours after supplementation, L-tyrosine levels in the blood peak and remain increased for up to eight hours. L-tyrosine then crosses the blood-brain barrier and is absorbed by brain cells, where it undergoes a series of enzymatic processes to produce DA, which can subsequently be converted to NE by another enzyme. L-capacity tyrosine's to increase catecholamine production only in actively firing neurons may explain its ability to counteract the effects of neurotransmitter depletion caused by stress.
How to Take
