For those not familiar with Maxwell Toys, these were copies of various British toy makers, (mainly Matchbox & Corgi) made in India by Maxwell Co. in Calcutta. (Kolkata today). These models are highly collectible, (I have several hundred, see photo in my store) and prized by collectors.
The model is in outstanding nearest to mint-condition with no touch-up or replacement parts whatsoever. Original plastic high speed wheels spin freely on straight (rare!) axles. Beautiful bright yellow exterior and mauve base plate. Perfect dark blue windows and H.P. stickers.
There are no issues with the model and is as as it came from the factory.
The original box is in excellent condition as well and is complete (no missing flaps) and has almost no crushing. It does have the correct box end number (581) overprinted to replace the incorrect one (No. 563) for this model. Note that to save on costs, Maxwell often used the same basic box for two or more models. The only difference would be the printing on one box end, which would be for the model enclosed in the box. Or as in this case, overprinted over the incorrect number.
The reason for this sale is that aside from reducing my entire model collection, I am also reducing my Maxwell Toys collection by selling duplicates such as this model.
Thus, a great opportunity for the true collector to acquire an original and rare Maxwell Toy model in its proper and original box. This model will not disappoint the most fastidious collector.
