A Very Lovely Ancient Toned 6-MG Wildman !

Flashy Mint State Lustre over entire obverse & reverse sides !!
(hard to capture lustre in photos due to glare off the holder.)

A "Finest & Only" example at both NGC & PCGS !!

NGC MS62 !  1746 IBH Germany 6 Marien Grosch, Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel

Only this one 1746 6MG has been authenticated & graded at NGC !

None have been authenticated & graded at PCGS.

This Wildman seems to be standing on his pile of Gold. The old world chromatic golden toning gleams with golden delight !

Featuring original 270 year old toning of royale blues & subtle purples mixed with coin gun metal grays !

With fantastic highlights of chromatic glistening golds in and around the devices !!

A very delightful piece and rather rare in mint state condition as the census reports attest.
The Woodwose (Anglo-Saxon: Wuduwasa) or hairy Wildman of the woods was the giant sasquatch figure of medieval Europe. Images of Wildmen appear in carvings and painted on roof boses in the cathedral of Canterbury as well as being depicted on european coinage of the 13th -18th centuries.
The image of the Wildman survived to appear on Heraldic-Coat-of-Arms well into the 16th century. Early engravers in Italy & Germany were especially fond of the Wildman.
