Handmade Butterfly Flying in a Jar - Cottage Core Decor Faux Monarch Butterflies.
Butterflies are a meaningful statement piece for many people. Some admire the beauty of butterflies, while others relate to their delicacy and gentle nature. Some people believe that loved ones who have passed may visit in the form of a butterfly, others admire how incredible the transformative nature of a butterfly is from a scientific standpoint. Whatever your reason is, I understand! I love butterflies too! Although personally, it was my love of Skyrim that inspired me to create these butterflies in a jar, much like the one you can find in-game.
This whimsical jar is the perfect addition to a room with a cottagecore, woodsy, or fairy aesthetic. It is also interactive, as you can lightly move the jar to watch the butterflies move and appear to flutter around, as they hang from invisible strings. This is the perfect gift for someone who has a special interest or love for butterflies, or anyone who appreciates cute, forest creatures or collecting unique knick-knacks!
This jar features three monarch butterflies, each approximately the size of a nickel, crafted with lightweight paper and carefully marked to replicate the physical attributes and movements of a real butterfly!
The cork lid can be removed carefully if you want to add pebbles and fake flowers, leaves, or moss to the inside. These can also be added to a custom order at your request, see below for details!

- ABOUT THE ITEM -
This item is made with tissue paper, which is known for being very light and flimsy. This is perfect for capturing the lightweight, delicate essence and movement of a butterfly, however, the process is not so simple. Each butterfly is individually cut and shaped then the monarch butterfly design is carefully drawn onto both sides of the paper. In order to increase the durability of the product, being such a fragile material, I treat the tissue paper with a stiffening process that assists in protecting the paper against wrinkling, curling, or otherwise losing its shape. This process is the most tricky part, as stiffening the tissue paper includes the use of adhesive products, which greatly weakens the tissue paper as it dries. It also cannot dry against another material, as once tissue paper is stuck it is very hard to get it off in one piece! Securing the butterflies to the string and cork is also a challenging process that must be taken slowly and carefully to ensure the butterflies are secure and will not easily fall off. There is very much care and effort put into these pieces, as I strive to make them as lifelike and beautiful as possible, while also working hard to maintain the integrity of the piece as a product for others.
