ONE Hawaiian Epipremnum pinnatum vine cutting without leaves. It will have two grow points (knuckles) per stem and some may have structured roots, but that is only certain times of the year. They will be ready to grow no matter when you get them! :)
This auction is for ONE exposed root/vine Giant Pothos ... from 1-4 inch diameter of vine. These are fast growing. Typically the leaves are two feet across right before they are cut and packaged to ship to your door. These specimens develop best in partial shade with damp soil (no standing water or they can rot when the vine are very big).
The plant will arrive with its leaves sometimes removed and sometimes with a partial leaf. They will regrow quickly once you replant in well drained soil or in the ground. I have measured the mother plant to reach over 46 feet tall in its second year. Leaves measure over 20 inches long and 40 inches wide. The mother pictured is three years old, to give you an idea of the fast growth potential.
I typically trim several leaves off of the plant to encourage new growth monthly. The vine cuttings I'm selling are harvested from a grand mother plant that is over 30 feet tall this past summer. It prefers partial shade, but they will survive and flourish either way (if protected during reestablishing). From what I've read the ideal zones are 7b to 10b. I'm in zone 11b and they still grow great!
Instructions and Recommendations: Upon delivery, unwrap your plants and either plant in well drained soil or in the ground. Protect from intense sunlight for the first several months. Keep moist until new shoots start to show. Then water twice a week (depending on climate conditions). Please pay attention to the plants as they establish in their new home as they are fragile from the move.
Keeping them damp during the initial time is essential to strong recovery.I do not use any chemicals fertilizers or chemical pesticides on the plants I sell. I use Neem Oil on rare occasion, but very sparingly.
Fertilized by composted plant teas of comfrey, moringa and other nutrient rich materials. Mulch and compost is recommended for all plants I sell as it retains moisture and provides steady nutrients to the plant and encourages root growth.
Plants are shipped within three days Sun to Thursday. Shipping is by priority mail envelope. If there is space I wrap the plant in cardboard. All roots are wrapped in a damp paper cloth with a plastic wrap to hold in moisture.
