I really love this piece.  It's a great piece all on it's own - I displayed it on a shelf for YEARS.  It's about 4 1/2 inches tall, and is made from a hand carved solid wood.  The tongue is separate, and moves in and out.  It started life as a nutcracker, and when the handle was moved to crack a nut, the tongue would move in and out.  The glass eyes are great.  It really displays well, and deserves a second life.  the way the head is made with a groove around the neck, which would be wonderful for attaching the head to a soft body, or even a sock doll body.  I have collected books and patterns over the years for making soft body dolls, and sock dolls, so I scanned them and am shipping this head with the books I have on a CD.

I am sure this piece is from the 1920s, as Scottie Dogs were hugely popular, and its solid wood; also I have had many nutcrackers over the years that are similar to this piece.
