Antique Ebonised Mantel Clock With Brass Caddy Top And Ormolu Mounts.

This lovely antique bracket / mantel clock has a lovely ebonised case. The top of the case has a wonderful, patterned caddy top with a shaped brass carry handle. This leads to a moulding around the top edge with four “torch” shaped finials. The body of the case is then square with four lovely ormolu mounts to the front as well as two glass viewing windows to the sides surrounded by shaped brass frames. There is then a further moulding to the bottom leading to the shaped base which is finished by four shaped brass feet.

The dial then has an unusual black felt background with a brass chapter ring. The chapter ring is then set out in Black Roman numerals with dashes to the outside marking the minutes as well as every five minutes being marked in Arabic numerals. The dial is then finished by two beautifully shaped brass hands as well as a protective glass in the door.

The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It ticks away and chimes as it should and comes complete with its pendulum and winding key. The movement strikes both the number of hours on the hour as well as once on the half past via a gong.

It measures approximately:

- 13.75” / 35cm Tall.

- 9” / 23cm Wide.

- 6” / 15cm Deep.
