This is an unusual version of these dolls and is only lightly adorned with carving, beads & shells, but however has the addition of a bobbin for thread.
Upon reaching puberty more adornment was added in the form of beads and shells as they were then viewed as fertility symbols.
This item seems to be on the cusp of plaything/fertility symbol due to the decoration
