Here I am selling a *** 1919 *** King- George - V. English Penny / 1d

English coins were the coins only used in Ireland up to when Éire started printing their own coinage first in 1928 Irish coins had the same value as the English coins did. Ireland used duel currency up to 1979. Even though England didn't use Irish currency in the same way, 1928), the Irish currency took the name of the Irish pound (or punt Eireann) in 1938. Despite independence, the Irish pound was pegged to sterling until 1979. Only when Eire adopted the euro in 2002 did its currency take a different path from that of the United Kingdom.
