This listing is for 10 magic lantern slides.  The "Magic Lantern" was one of the most popular toys in the Victorian Era! The Magic Lanterns were basically a projector with a lens, and a tiny oil lamp.  Since oil lamps have open flames, they were REALLY dangerous.  But, like most things, danger didn't enter in to it!  They came in all sizes, so not all slides will fit all lanterns.  These slides are 8" long, meant to be viewed in landscape mode, and they are 2 3/8" wide.  They aren't photographic - they are hand painted.  The set originally was bigger, and most are numbered, but there doesn't seem to be any continuity in the images to any type of story!  There is one Christmas piece, but it has broken on the end.  There are several images that feature spooky carnivals, and children doing all sorts of things.  There are some fantasy animals, and much more.  I have included a picture of each one, that I took by photographing it on the ledge of my window.
