"Luz Divina"

This Brazilian missal (devotional book) is less of a book than a work of sacred art. Both front and back cover are made of mother-of-pearl with a geometrical gold pattern. Front cover features a small bronze shield. Hard spine, with a cloth of the same color than the covers. All edges are gilded.

The 78-pages missal is profusely illustrated. It contains the morning prayers, the renewal of baptism promises, the Nossa Senhora (Hail Mary), Nossa Senhora Aparecida (Saint Patron of Brazil) and many other prayers and other Catholic Church commandments. Comes with a table of contents.

Printed in 1955 by Edição IDEC. All in Portuguese. Signed by the owner in 1962 on the free end paper before the title page. 12 x 7.5 cm (4¾" x 3").

A unique piece.

The mother-of-pearls cover look like new even though they are more than 60 years old. Spine cloth looks good, front joint shows a few spots. Page edges and interior are bright and clean.
